In 2015, Ventura County Credit Union formed its own non-profit 501(c)(3) to foster goodwill and charitable giving in the communities we serve. The idea was inspired by many years of giving, including the last five, in which VCCU gave more than a half-million dollars to local non-profit organizations and causes.
The Credit Union itself was founded in 1950, when it began operating out of the County Courthouse. Starting with just a few employees, one volunteer, and a cash drawer, VCCU began helping members reach their financial goals, driven by the Credit Union philosophy of People Helping People.
This philosophy is more evident today than ever. Thanks to the Credit Union’s healthy financial returns combined with the generosity of our membership, VCCU felt both an obligation and commitment to broaden their efforts and outreach. Thus, The Foundation of Ventura County Credit Union came to fruition, with a goal of providing funding, assistance and education to our local non-profit partners.
Using the Credit Union’s historical giving as a springboard, the Foundation focuses on three main categories within our community: the underserved, beautification and/or preservation of our environment, and health and well-being.
